All of our wood-fired Moroccan ceramic tiles are made using materials and techniques that have remained virtually unchanged for hundreds of years. These tiles are truly handmade. Typically, a batch of tiles with the same glaze from a single kiln will include a broad spectrum of different tones of the desired colour. These tonal variations are one of the characteristics that make these tiles so different from others produced today. Being entirely handmade, they are characterised by a slightly textured surface, with each tile differing from the next.
Dar Interiors' wood-fired and handpainted glazed tiles make beautiful decorative inserts and borders when used in combination with single colour tiles. These handpainted tiles are not generally recommended for floors except in areas of light traffic. Many other designs, including multi-tile panels, are available to order. These handmade handpainted tile panels have also been used to stunning effect as garden wall decorative features.
The tiles shown below are examples of the designs that we currently hold in stock. However, we can have almost any pattern made to order in many different colour combinations and dimensions.
