All of our wood-fired Moroccan ceramic tiles are made using materials and techniques that have remained virtually unchanged for hundreds of years. These tiles are truly handmade. Typically, a batch of tiles with the same glaze from a single kiln will include a broad spectrum of different tones of the desired colour. These tonal variations are one of the characteristics that make these tiles so different from others produced today. Being entirely handmade, they are characterised by a slightly textured surface, with each tile differing from the next.
Handmade hand-cut Moroccan zellige tiles are traditionally laid one by one which, for more complex patterns, is often a highly skilled and time-consuming process. For this reason we have designed and developed a unique range of pre-assembled mosaic zellige tiles, facilitating the creation of beautiful mosaic patterns over large areas by any competent tiler. We offer field and border tiles, both of which can be used in combination with many of other types of tile.
The tiles shown below are examples of the patterns and some of the colour combinations that we currently hold in stock. However, we can have almost any pattern made to order in many different colours and dimensions.
